The only dedicated festival of its kind in the UK, the Polish Arts Festival was established five years ago and has been gathering momentum ever since. It began life in Ipswich, Suffolk, and subsequently migrated to Southend-on-Sea in Essex, where it attracts wide audiences from throughout the Thames Gateway, London, and beyond. The Polish Arts Festival provides a platform for contemporary Polish arts and artists based in the UK and overseas. It additionally celebrates Poland’s rich cultural heritage via its traditional cuisine and crafts. With Polish now recognized as the most commonly spoken second language in England, the Polish Arts Festival provides another important role: a unique opportunity to meet and greet, and perhaps have a dance with, the new neighbours.
